THE STORY OF THIS PIECE:
This art quilt in the Recycled Denim Stories series, was inspired by the remaining recycled materials used in several previously created pieces in this series. The materials “spoke” to me and asked to become “Additional Conversations” in the recycled denim series.
The “+” signs in the quilt might represent the addition of various recycled materials, fabrics, or colors combinations as the piece evolved.
Tierney is the process of deciding how many additional pieces will be part of the Recycled Denim Stories series. Additional Conversations is the largest piece in this series.
Currently she’s finishing some additional hand stitching on another recycled denim piece, Recycled Love (2018), which will debut at the 2018 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show as part of the annual Central Oregon SAQA exhibit: The Threads That Bind.
The addition of Recycled Love will bring the total to 6 art quilts in the Recycled Denim Stories series. Seven is considered a “lucky” number so Tierney will likely create at least one more piece for this series!
